Shrinathji Temple, Nathdwara

Shrinathji Temple, Nathdwara

Nathdwara, Udaipur

Located just 48 km from Udaipur, Nathdwara is a revered town known for housing the Shrinathji Temple, dedicated to Lord Krishna. The temple is famous for its idol of Lord Krishna, which is exquisitely carved from a single piece of black marble.

According to historical accounts, the idol was originally being transported from Mathura to the Mewar kingdom during the reign of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb. However, the chariot carrying the statue became mysteriously stuck in Nathdwara and could not move further. Believing this to be a divine sign, a shrine was established at this spot, making Nathdwara a significant pilgrimage destination for devotees of Lord Krishna.

The town attracts thousands of visitors, especially during festivals, who come to seek blessings from the revered idol of Shrinathji.
