Located just 22 km from Udaipur, on the serene banks of Indersagar Lake, the Eklingji Temple is a sprawling temple complex comprising 108 individual temples. This sacred site is primarily dedicated to Lord Shiva, and it is renowned for its stunning 50-foot-high black stone statue of the deity, which features four faces, each representing a different form of Lord Shiva.
- East-facing: Surya (the Sun God)
- West-facing: Lord Brahma
- North-facing: Lord Vishnu
- South-facing: Rudra (Lord Shiva himself)
The temple also houses shrines dedicated to other deities such as Parvati, Ganesha, Kartikeya, and Saraswati.
One of the most significant times to visit the Eklingji Temple is during the Shivratri festival, when the entire temple complex is beautifully adorned, and the deities are draped in elaborate decorations. This attracts a large number of devotees, making it a vibrant and spiritually charged occasion.
